Feast yoooor eeeeeys!
Both of my sons have been doing this since we saw Brave. Child #2 has the accent down perfect.
As you may know I'm working on a fantasy novel that is about dragons. What you might now know is the characters live in a made up country that has a very old English/Irish/Scottish feel to it. So when I plunked down with my boys and watched this movie on Saturday, I did feast my eyes.
The princess is all sorts of awesome. Strong willed, (Could she be any other way with that hair?) an excellent markswoman, and has the best accent. I hope to see lots of little Merida's running around on Halloween. And the movie has a lot of heart, and of course is very funny.
The back drop, personalities of the characters, and the music are what my eyes feasted on the most. I knew that I need a visual inspiration for the next section of Sir Callan and Brave provided it.
Please enjoy a little song from the movie. Maybe it will get your creative juices flowing. (Oh I LOVE Mumford and Sons & Birdy)
Come join me on the Fourth of July and something SUPER awesome to share with you. Have a great weekend!

So I know little about this movie, other than the girl with red hair. Is it one an 8 year old boy will like too? Is there plenty of action and fun for him?
ReplyDeletethe triplets reminded me so much of my sons! grrreat movie!
ReplyDeleteI really want to see thsi with the kids but not sure I can take a whole summer of "feasting my eyes"!
ReplyDeleteMy kiddos watched this with their grandparents yesterday and LOVED it. I'm a little sad that I missed it, BUT we're having a work party with all the attorney's from Mike's work at our house today, and my kitchen is still a mess, and I cleaned all day yesterday, so...
ReplyDeleteit is what it is.
I LOVE Mumford and Sons! And I can't wait to see this movie. Writing a book in this sort of setting would be fun...especially with dragons.
ReplyDeleteAnd July 4th is sounding so mysterious... :)
LOVED this movie! So much fun! My kids and hub loved it too! I could watch it again and again!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you share on the 4th!
that is great!
ReplyDeletejust what we need at my house, more flashing, ha!
and excited about your surprise!
We took our daughters to see it on Friday and loved it as well:) I told my friend who asked if it was ok if her 4 yr old saw it that it was only PG for the nudity, lol
ReplyDeleteI saw this yesterday and LOVED the music! And Merida. And her hair. If your book has a setting anything like Brave, I bet it's awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I haven't seen this yet, but I know I will. And by the sounds of it, this book of yours is something I would pick up in an instant. :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of good things about this film from my Facebook groups (some attached to blogs) devoted to stopping the Disney Princess culture and giving girls choices instead of treating them like they can only like pink and play with certain toys. I'm not much one for fantasy, but yours sounds like one I might read.
