I HAVE AN AGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & SO DOES KELLEY LYNN

When people said they had no idea what they should write for a post like this I always thought, yeah right. You scream and shout and jump for joy, right?

But, guys, I really am at a loss for words. If you would have told me when I started my blog a little over a year ago that I'd get to do the-I have an agent post-I would have laughed at you. But yes, I now have an agent!!!! The wonderful Brittany Booker from Corvisiero Literary Agency offered Kelley Lynn and I representation for our collaboration project, ALREADY THERE. 

I guess I will start with how Already There was born. I finished my second book's last round of revisions back in April and started the query process. Which led to LOTS of rejection. Angel books are a hard sell right now so I felt pretty discouraged.

So, I did what everyone told me to do, I just kept writing. Over at my group blog, Falling for Fiction, we were kicking our blog off with a bang by participating in the A to Z Challenge and Kelley Lynn and I had to do a L post together. So we decided to write a silly story about Lego Larry and Lego Lilly. We swapped emails back and forth and it was really fun. There were people all over Twitter (okay, maybe only one or two.) tweeting about their collab projects and I thought, hey why not try to do a collab to get my mind off of query hell? So, I emailed Kelley and asked what she thought and she agreed. Which was totally awesome and intimidating because she’s such a fantastically talented writer.  

To our surprise and joy we work really well together and ALREADY THERE was born. We wrote it in about 2 months and revisions took about a month. We slashed like 8 chapters total. Revised the crap out of the beginning and polished it up.

We started querying on a Monday. I was SO nervous to start this process all over again. I knew that we'd get rejected because that's all I'd known. See, The Guardian Tribe, never received one request. Not one. But on that Friday we received something in our inbox. A request for the first 50 Pages. I flipped out. My first request. I couldn't believe it. Then late Saturday night I'm sitting in my chair at home watching the Olympics (I think, when did they start? LOL) And I checked my phone for the thousandth time that day and the agent who requested the first 50 wanted to read the FULL. I screamed and spilled milk all over myself. The next few days I checked my email and went back and forth between she's going to hate it and no the end of the book is the part everyone likes, she'll love it. Well, thankfully she loved it. On Tuesday, July 31st we received "the email." I cried people. I really did. 

And there is NO way I would have ever gotten to this point if it weren’t for an army of people. I won’t go into academy speech territory but I have to thank a few people. Pam Martin, you know how much you’ve given to me. Megan Dolan, I miss you and I’m so grateful that you read the crapstastic state TGT was in and still wanted to be my CP. Cristina & Emily, you two are the best CP/Beta readers ever! Jolene your comments on TGT opened my eyes to what was missing from my writing. Theresa P. AT would not be the book it is without all your work!!! 

And FFF girls-Cassie, Hope, Jade & of course Kelley Lynn. This really, really couldn’t have happened without you. Love you guys!

And last but not least, YOU GUYS!! I would have quit this thing called writing if I didn't have you all as my friends. And that's what I feel like you are. I started this year off with a resolution to not worry about the number of followers I had but concentrate on developing relationships with people and that's what I feel like I've accomplished. You guys truly are the reason this post is possible.
