Where do you write?
Well... my computer is in my living room. So I write there when I'm at home. It's about to be moved into it's own room, which sounds like heaven. I write on my lunch breaks at work a lot too.
Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?
A picture of a goddess with the words. Jenny, thank you for all your help today. You are a Goddess. LOL. I helped one our contractors out and she emailed it to me. So I printed it out to remind myself when I get people that aren't happy with me that there was at least one day where I was a goddess to them. Haha.
Favorite time to write?
In the middle of the day, which sucks when you have an 8 to 5 job. I usually spend my days inputting data into a computer while mentally writing chapters.
Drink of choice while writing?
Coffee. I would love to write during the day but can't so I end up staying up late to type in what I was daydreaming about during the day. So, I need LOTS of caffeine.
When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence?
This depends. If I'm trying to create a certain mood then I will play music while I write. Other times I need it silent. But I ALWAYS have to know what type of music my characters listen to or I can't write them.
What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?
The MS I'm finishing up is actually the first book I ever wrote, completely revamped. I'm not sure what inspired the actual characters and story. I just wanted to create people and the MC's story came to me.
What's your most valuable writing tip?
Do exactly what this meet and greet is all about. Get yourself out there. Meet fellow writers. Allow them to help you grow as a writer. Get involved in contests. They help you gauge where you're at. Let people support you. And through it all KEEP WRITING. ;0)
Now if you want to Meet and Greet everyone else head over to Deana's blog and follow the linky list to all the wonderful people.

I would love something like your Goddess poster as a constant reminder that I don't suck! It's so cool that someone sent it to you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great poster ;) and great idea to have it up there!
ReplyDeleteGood tip too.
I'd definitely print out that note and use it for a reminder too. Nobody's ever called me a goddess. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a goddess! I love it.
ReplyDeleteIs your latest MS the one I read a while back?
ReplyDeleteThe current MS I am working on is the same, a revamp of my first ever work. What a funny coincidence!! Nice to meet you and I'll see you around GUTGAA.

I think your a writing goddess and a blogging goddess! :) All the time.
ReplyDeleteHello Jenny!!! *waving*
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Jenny! You are so right: Networking is essential in this endeavor. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteCoffee? I thought that tons more would put that as their choice, but you’re one of the first I’ve seen. I’m following your blog now. =)
ReplyDeleteThank the Lord for Lunch Breaks! AT really needed those when we were going like a chapter a day! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great piece of advice - the writer's online have made all the difference in my life!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate with the job getting in the way of writing. I can't tell you how many notebooks I carry, and post it's are always within reaching distance. I just turn my back towards my boss and start scribbling down as fast as I can. :)
ReplyDeleteI understand about the job getting in the way. I work around 55 hours a week and finding time to write is always a challenge.
ReplyDeleteMy day job also makes it difficult to write until I drop from creativity induced exhaustion. Wish it weren't so, but at least I have lunch and breaks.
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you! I hear you on jobs - they really put a cramp in our writing, don't they? Look forward to seeing you around GUTGAA!

ReplyDeleteDon't do coffee but I love fruit juices. Gutaa is a great idea. So off the beaten path, did you watch the new Grimm last night? And I love your advice of getting more involved. That's very good advice.
ReplyDeleteYour advice is spot on! That is how I met all kinds of great people :)
ReplyDeleteLoooooove your writing advice. Spot on. :)
ReplyDeleteAgree with the advice, totally. It takes time but is worth it. Nice to meet you. Awesome pictures.
ReplyDeleteHi there! This whole GUTGAA thing is pretty amazing, and you're right I've already met some great people. I write YA also and have just now launched myself into the whole social media universe. Congrats on having an agent, that's awesome! Come say hello if you've got a minute. http://rhiannwynnnolet.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI used to try to write at work too. I admire your drive. :)

Awesome advice! Nice to meet you - new follower. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you! Middle of the day works best for me too, but I have the 2pm-10:30pm problem. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlthough, working in the back of the post office, I move through a TON of audiobooks. So it's still a win. ^_^
Way cool, Jenny! Love all of this. What a cool way to get to know people :-D
ReplyDeleteFun! I love getting to know more about your writing life.
ReplyDeleteMe so slow...
ReplyDeleteHey,
Just read your GUTGAA post :)
You *are* a bloody great Writer, and I am excited for your upcoming future :)
Keep. ON. Writing. During. Lunch :)
I'm still visiting the Meet & Greet posts. I agree, the contests are a good way to gauge how prepared you are for the real world of publishing. I've shied away from entering anything until recently, which is really for the best. It can be humbling if you stumble in too early. I've found some great beta readers through blogs.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your contemporary story concept (saw it on your projects page, about the road trip & signing competition). For a generation raised on reality competition shows, I think that story is a great setting for a YA novel. Plus, road trip! And sister tension! Very cool. I wish you lots of luck with your story.
Hi just hopping around for gutgaa meet awesome writers. Great advice:) Nice to meet you~!
ReplyDeleteI love your tip. It's so true that getting out there is the best thing. Most of the people following my blog found it because I found them first.
ReplyDeleteAnd by finding them, I found their perspectives and writing tips, some of which have really helped me to complete my ms. :-D
